While the app is generally reliable, there are some instances where you may be blocked by another user.
WhatsApp does not explicitly tell you if you've been blocked, but some signs can help you determine if someone has blocked you.
Here are five ways to tell if you've been blocked on WhatsApp:
Check the last seen or online status
One of the easiest ways to check is to look for the last seen or online status in the chat window. However, it's also possible that you won't see their last seen if they've turned it off in their settings.
Check for a profile picture
A profile picture is a key indicator of someone's identity on WhatsApp. If you can't see someone's profile picture, it's a strong sign that they've blocked you. However, if you can see the person's profile picture and you've been blocked, you may not be able to see their updated profile picture.
Send a message to the contact
If you send a message to the contact that has blocked you, you will only see a single check mark on the message, instead of double check marks or blue double check marks.
Call the contact
You may not be able to make any attempt to call the contact. You will only see a call connecting message when you make the call. However, this can also happen if the recipient of the call doesn't have an internet connection.
Create a WhatsApp group
If you try to create a group with a contact that you suspect has blocked you, following through with the group creation process will only result in you joining the group.

- If you're still not sure if you've been blocked, you can try creating a new WhatsApp account and adding the contact that you suspect has blocked you. If you're able to add them, then you know that you've been blocked.
- If you've been blocked by someone, you won't be able to see their status updates, profile picture, or last seen.
- If you've been blocked by someone, you won't be able to send them messages or make calls.
