TikTok is hoping to make a splash in the US holiday shopping season with a major discount campaign starting on October 27, Bloomberg reported.
The social video app is reportedly offering discounts of up to 50% to gain a foothold with US shoppers, who traditionally flock to big-box retailers like Amazon and Walmart for Black Friday sales each November.
Bloomberg said a TikTok spokesperson confirmed the plans, with the official Black Friday deals starting at 8 pm on November 23.
TikTok launched its TikTok Shop in the US last week, offering to hold sellers' products and ship them using its fulfillment centers and launching a creator affiliate program for creators who sell products through their videos.
The company reportedly hopes to move $20 billion worth of products worldwide this year, and the holidays will be a big part of that. After all, people in the US spent more than $20 billion online on Black Friday last year.
